National Grid – North West Coast Connections

Prior to the recent pause in their programme Wilson Fearnall had been providing specialist land & property support to National Grid in the development of their North West Coast Connections (NWCC) Project.  This Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project was required to support the development of Moorside, a new nuclear power station near Sellafield in Cumbria, and involved approximately 180km of new 400kV electricity lines to connect the generator into the existing transmission network.  The project was one of the largest infrastructure projects in the UK.

Our services were contracted directly into National Grid, providing senior internal Land & Property support as part of their in-house project team. This work involved supporting the entire Development Consent Order process including the appointment and management of third party professionals, developing the survey access and land referencing process, Book of Reference preparation, the development and delivery of the projects land acquisition strategy, managing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and leading in complex voluntary and compulsory property acquisition negotiations.

We are able to offer our services on a stand alone basis, or we can provide specialist internal resource as part of your organisation for the delivery specific projects.
